Ali Shubar
Ali Shubar was born in 1966 in Baghdad, Iraq and came to Bremen in Germany at the age of 15 where he lives and works until today. He received his first painting lessons in Baghdad in his childhood, but remained primarily self-educated. Due to his deafness, painting had always been his form of communication outside the family. Since 1994 he is dedicated solely to painting, where he begins to develop his own techniques.
The syntax is the doctrine for the creation of a sentence. For Ali Shubar, the "Syntax of the Elements" means the reduction to few shapes and colors. In his work he displays the character of nature and the interaction of the elements. In shining acrylic colors he paints dark mountains, green valleys and wide planes, which remind the observer of lunar landscapes or desolate deserts. The exhibits mirror visual impressions which the artist recounts from his memory.
His work is embossed with powerfull streaks, determined coloring and calm movement. The artist creates spaces of tranquility and imagination graphically and without the use of light and shadow. As from dreams, Ali Shubar takes his landscape memories gently into the beginning day.
